Anybody who reads blogs would be aware that blogs are not free for those of us who write them.
Web hosting, tool subscriptions and technology costs all add up over the month. Of course there are a number of ways to monetize your blog and make real cash from your blog.
There are heaps of gurus out there who show various methods, and a Google search will show thousands of results for a search “How to make money blogging”. Common ways are (in no particular order)
Ads: Many bloggers run Google Ads on their sites to generate income. These ads work by paying cents each time a reader clicks on the ad. The actual ads are not controlled by the blogger themselves, but rather by the ad provider, who will match ads to what they think the blog readers may be interested in seeing.

Affiliate Links: This is where the blogger will recommend a product or service and the provider of the item pays a commission for any sales. (Learn how to use Affiliate links on your blog here)
Selling Products: Some bloggers sell products. eBooks, Planners, Printables and all manner of products can be sold on a blog.
Teaching Courses: Teaching readers about what you do can be a lucrative income producing business. There are many online millionaires who have made their start from a simple blog.
Paid (or Sponsored Posts): Some large blogs have many thousand of readers every week, and have a lot of influence over their readers. This makes them very attractive sites for companies to partner with. A company that sells baby goods for instance might partner with a Mommy blogger and pay her a sum to do a review of their products.
Paid Ads: These differ from the Google ad type model, in the fact that the blogger will sell space on the blog for a particular ad. That ad will appear as long as the buyer has paid for the space.
